Gangaramaya Temple is one of most sacred temples in the whole of Colombo, and also potentially the most interesting due to it displaying a unique mix of both modern design and cultural heritage.
This Buddhist temple draws inspiration architecturally from a wealth of different cultures and countries including Thai, Indian, Chinese and of course, Sri Lankan. It also houses an incredible collection of Buddha statues all sat in rows crossed legged, an excellent photo opportunity.

Colombo is home to some of the biggest and best shopping in the country; you’re bound to find everything and anything here. Head to the markets if you’re looking for unique Sri Lankan handicrafts and souvenirs, or make you way over to the spectacular department stores and shopping plazas for international and local fashion brands, high-end brands and home furnishings.
Known as the close relative of the rickshaw, be sure to set aside time for a trishaw ride around Colombo; just be sure to hold onto your hat!
A trishaw is another name for ‘cycle rickshaw’ which uses three wheels to pull along the passenger cart, and you’ll see them all over Colombo. Be sure to use them at least once, you might get addicted to the thrill of zipping all over the city!

Colombo is a great place to try a wealth of mouth-watering Sri Lankan dishes, we’ll let you in on some of our favourites! Kottu roti is an absolutely delicious dish that you’ll find both in the finest restaurants and the street food stands, it’s similar to fried rice but it uses a type of flat, crispy bread instead with spicy curry sauce. Another great dish is kukul mas curry, which is a delicious coconut-based chicken curry, and you cannot beat hoppers for breakfast; Sri Lanka’s answer to the pancake!
