I had such an amazing time at the Cocoon Maldives, it's perfect for a romantic couples' retreat...
After my first night in the Maldives, I woke to the soothing sounds of the sea and the feel of the warm equatorial sun on my face. Itching for my Maldives holiday to begin, I jumped out of the Cocoon's sumptuous (and chic!) bed and headed straight to the beach. I felt like I was still dreaming as I walked into a scene that looked like it was straight from a magazine. The feel of the soft sand on my feet was heavenly, and as I swam into the glistening turquoise lagoon, I felt like I really was in paradise.
After a morning spent lounging on the beach (I couldn't resist!), we fancied real adventure on our Maldives holiday. And what better way to be thrilled than by a paragliding excursion? Slightly nervous, we were strapped into the harness and before we knew it, the speedboat zoomed forth and we took off to the skies! Once the fear had subsided, I could take in the views around me; they were phenomenal. Once back on the ground, we both headed to the resort's poolside Loabiloaobi Bar for a well-deserved Maldivian cocktail - it was delicious!
After a few nights in our tropical Beach Suite, I was excited to live my Maldives fantasy and stay in a luxurious Lagoon Suite with a Pool. As we headed to our overwater villa, I couldn't wait to walk into the sparkling shallow water of the lagoon from the privacy of our villa's steps! Once I'd had a swim in the villa's private pool, we set off on what was probably the most unique lunching experience of my life: a private sandbank picnic! I loved the intimate isolation of being on our own 'island'; it was incredibly peaceful having nothing around me but beautiful, turquoise water gentled lapping the white sand.
Eager for more relaxation, my boyfriend and I decided to visit Cocoon's The Cube Spa. After a lot of deliberation - the spa menu is extensive! - I chose a Lava Stone Massage. With the calming and therapeutic ambience of the spa and the feel of the penetrating heat of the stones on my body, I let my mind drift off into a state serenity! Leaving the spa in a state of bliss, we headed to the Manta Restaurant for some grilled Maldivian lobster, because you must have seafood on your Maldives holiday! The lobster was absolutely delicious, and I was tempted to go back for more the following evening!
As our final day in the Maldives sadly approached, I was keen to get on my diving gear and head out to the Lhaviyani atoll's most vibrant diving spots! After completing a refresher diving course, it didn't take long before I could immerse myself in underwater paradise and swim alongside exotic marine creatures; I was lucky enough to see several manta rays and angel fish darting in amongst the brightly coloured coral! Diving is such an incredible activity to do on a Maldives holiday, and the Cocoon offers a diverse range of diving courses, whether you're a novice or an experienced diver.
After an incredible day diving, we watched the sunset from our overwater villa before heading for a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach - it really felt like we were on a honeymoon in the Maldives! With the soft ripple of the lagoon behind us, we enjoyed a bottle of champagne as we reminisced about our Maldives holiday and incredible stay at the Cocoon resort! Feeling like true VIPs, we enjoyed one last swim in our private pool before heading back inside. Definitely the most romantic holiday I have ever been on, I knew that I would remember this trip to the Maldives forever!
